An Open Letter to Range Resources and Horn Petroleum
August 25, 2012 // News in English, Warar Somaali
We, concerned Puntlanders both inside and outside the country, wish to write this open letter to urge both Horn Petroleum and Range Resources to carefully consider the negative and adverse implications that moving to the Nugal Region to start a new drilling program for petroleum in that region might have for all the sides that have (or think they do) a stake in the place, including the petroleum companies, who have so far enjoyed wide popular support in their endeavour to drill oil in the State.
The Nugal Region in Puntland is in highly unsettled state as three different administrations (Puntland. Somaliland and Khatumo) claim to have right of sovereignty and as such to control and administer.
Over the past 10 years, that area of Somalia has been in constant state of attrition that one could easily conclude that no group has real overall control.
We are concerned that by establishing base in the region to start a new drilling program even in the Puntland administered part of the region is going to become a catalyst for new and more volatile state of war that could destabilise the whole region.
It is also be worth noting that your own employees and staff’s safety and security would definitely be in the balance, as one or the other sides in the dispute might conclude that you are siding with one group against the rest.
For all the reasons cited above, we strongly suggest to both Range Resources and Horn Petroleum to give much more consideration and time before moving anytime soon to this region; at least until a national Federal Government is in place to arbiter the claims and counter claims of the warring sides.
We would also like to take this opportunity that this should not be seen by any party, least of all by the foreign companies as threat, but a constructive dialogue to give you a friendly warning that might to save lives and resources in the longer term.
Needless to say, we would be concerned and unhappy should not heed our suggestion to give it a time before you move in haste to a troubled spot, as we would both pay a hefty price with dire consequences.
Thank you for your anticipated co-operation in keeping the region a safer place for all concerned.
Mr. M I Musse

(On behalf of Puntlander, prominent among them some from both sides of Nugal region, inside and outside Somalia.)

Mr. M I Musse don’t lie to tell you are On behalf of Puntlander, prominent among them some from both sides of Nugal region, inside and outside Somalia. you are hatefull person. Nugal is saft place & it is in the hands of puntland government there is nothing what so ever Somaliland and Khatumo these two groups are located on sool region but not nugal region. these two groups are spoilers and they do not know what is peace. punland army is so strong to teach them leason.
in the last seven years resource and rangers, red empire, and african canadian have been exploring and drilling for oil in the daroor valley. the never had any problems in the last seven years and the reason is they have confidence in the local people and the clan leaders. this area is also a undisputed area and the area is dominated by one clan, however if they move to the nugaal valley the will not get the same support they had got in the daroor valley. the reason is, because the nugaal valley is a disputed area and also mr farole, although he is the president of puntland he solely believes he is the clan leader of the area. and as many people will know he is a corrupt man, his term will end on this december and he is not prepared to make to part in an election and just wants to extend his time. this will only result in war. so i advise the oil company to stay in the daroor valley until this man leaves.
BUY TILL YOUR HEADS FALL OFF.
@mike
Mike what this article demonstrates is you as a investor has been misled into thinking that Puntland is a sovereign state. The map on the Red Emperor website is highly misleading and inaccurate. The stock exchange (AIM) has rules on providing accurate info on website. The mere fact that the borders drawn here are misleading should get you and your other investors to complain to exchange.

We have heard rumours that they have not found any oil in dharoor?
Do any of you guys know if this is true or have they found some and are keeping quiet about it?
If they have found oil, why havn’t they announced it?
Are they waiting for your new president to announce it the whole of somalia first?
Or are both drills just empty holes?
salam
although the whole nugaal basin is in disputed region, the first expected well to be drilled in nugal by HRN actually locatted in the non-disputed area, in puntland. please refer to the map of the exact location to be drilled. furthermore, security has been very tight recently in that area (puntland side of the region) to prepare for the mobilisation of the base for the drilling to be spudded.
I hope for Somalia this oil is used for the people & not for the few
i want them to drill as much as possible; i need my share money back.
Maxaa dhacay dharoor maa shidaal laga waayay maxaa hada keenay nugaal
Asalamu Alaikum ya Akhi,
It’s just a matter of days before drill results are announced in Dharoor, we are ready for the good news insha’Allah. Please let Somalia rejoice in one united country and for success. I am sure all can benefit without further bloodshed. It has been too long now, enough of fighting, let a new chapter begin.
Salam brother, things have been moving fast in Somalia in the last few days, I think we need stability and security for the sake of the country. Why are we still fighting, why are you trying to aggravate matters with this post? Lets have peace, and why not explore the vast hidden wealth that we have been gifted with for the betterment of Somalia and its citizens. Lets move forward brother. Peace to all.
