PRESS RELEASE – SEF Team Congratulate New Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud

We the Somali Economic Forum Team would like to congratulate His Excellency Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud for being elected President of the Federal Republic of Somalia in a free, fair and transparent process.

We believe it is every Somali citizen’s responsibility to participant of the rebuilding and stabilising Somalia politically, socially and economically.

As a Somali group focusing on economic affairs we look forward to working with all government departments and ministries such as the Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Finance contributing in an economic advisory capacity.

We also understand that the huge contribution of the international community in the entire process cannot be ignored. I wish therefore to salute the contributions of representatives of the International Community and in particular Ambassador Augustine Mahiga, the UN Special Representative for Somalia for the unwavering support and guidance throughout the entire political process.

The important role our Arab and African friends played by providing financial and technical support, as well as the enormous contribution of all security forces and AU in particular for ensuring that the process of ending the transitional period including the National Constituent Assembly, the Technical Selection Committee (TSC) and now the election of the President takes place without any major security incident.

We are confident that Somalia will stand on its own feet very soon and with its natural resource and human capital Somalia will soon become one of the fastest growing economies in emerging markets.

Finally we would like to share our joy and celebration with each and every Somali citizen anywhere in the world.
